The island of Sri Lanka is a nugget of biological diversity.

Sri Lanka has been identified by the environment activist group Conservation International (CI) as one of 25 biodiversity hot spots in the world.

Despite its relatively small size(65 000 square kilometers), Sri Lanka possesses a high level of biodiversity.

A noteworthy feature of Sri Lanka's biodiversity is the remarkable high proportion of endemic species among its flora and fauna.

For the birds and for the bird watchers, this is, indeed a paradise!!!

From the 444 avian species recorded up to date in the island, 33 species are endemic to Sri Lanka.

Just a day's drive is enough to take you through some of the most breathtaking bird habitats.

Deliberately 14 days would be an ideal length in the months of October through April and with the expert field guidance of Senarath besides you, and you would be able to tick a list of over 240 birds !!!

Welcome to Senarath's Bird Watching Tour website.

Senarath was the assistance director in finance of the Mahawali authority of ministry of agriculture in Sri Lanka.

His lifelong passion into bird watching made him retire prematurely from the administrative post in which capacity he would able to travel the length and breadth of Sri Lanka.

He got himself trained into tourist guiding at the Tourism Training center of Sri Lanka Tourist Board. ( which is legally essential for leading tours in Sri Lanka ).
